Marilyn Joyce BALLARD, daughter of Burgin Clinton BALLARD and Hazel Theresa PATTON, was born on 20 July 1944 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. She died on 2 March 2012 at the age of 67 in Carolinas Medical Center, Lincolnton, NC. She was buried in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER Marilyn Joyce Ballard Baker, 67, of Conover, and formerly of Lincolnton, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center in Lincolnton, after a long period of declining health. Born July 20, 1944 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Burgin Clinton Ballard, Sr. and Hazel Theresa Patton Ballard. She was a homemaker. The joy of her life was her children and grandchildren. She will be missed more than words can express. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lenita Ballard Eaker and a brother, Larry Wayne Ballard. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Neil Thomas Baker; two daughters, Sheree Dellinger Daily and her husband, Michael of Claremont and Gina Baker Silva and her husband, Miguel of Conover; a son, Danny Hadley Perkins of Lincolnton; two brothers, B. C. Ballard, Jr. and his wife, Ann of Denver, N.C. and Terry Ballard and his wife Faye of Gastonia; grandchildren, Siera Lillie Heavner, Brian Christopher Daily and his wife Maite, Cristian Michael Daily, Candace Michelle Silva, Carmen Francesca Silva and Thomas Benjamin Silva; and numerous nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 4, at Drum Funeral Home Chapel in Conover. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 5, at Catawba Memorial Park.
