Her obituary appeared as follows: NEWTON - Stella Pauline Baker Herman, 92, of Abernethy Laurels, formerly of Conover, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at Abernethy Laurels. Born Aug. 31, 1914, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Zettie Cline Baker. She graduated from Oxford High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in Hickory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Herman; a son, Robert Herman; and brothers Guy, Earl, Richard, Floyd and Leonard Baker. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene Herman and wife, Pam, of Cumming, Ga.; grandchildren, Nancy Risch and husband, Phillip, and Teresa Towery and husband, Danny, all of Newton, David Herman and wife, Karen, of Duluth, Ga., and Dr. Lee Herman and wife, Kathleen, of Alpharetta, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Jessica Townsend, Thomas Watson, Julie Penley, Ashley, Andrew and Davis Herman and Braxton Risch and Annaleigh Risch; and a sister, Thelma Baker Sigmon of Conover. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, at St. Stephens Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The Revs. David Guelzow and David Ziehr will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Drum Funeral Home in Conover. Memorials may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran School, 2304 Springs Road, Hickory, N.C. 28601. The Herman family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home and Cremations in Conover.
