63. Nancy Mahala HERMAN was born on 20 October 1837 in Lincoln (Catawba County), North Carolina. She died on 9 October 1914 at the age of 76 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She was buried in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, NC.

Nancy Mahala HERMAN and William Franklin "Willis" WAGNER were married on 24 September 1856 in Catawba County, North Carolina. William Franklin "Willis" WAGNER, son of Peter WAGNER and Susan ECKARD, was born on 21 March 1831 in Lincoln (Catawba County), North Carolina.208,209 His record in the War Between the States is as follows:210 WAGNER, WILLIAM F., Private, Co. E, 57th Regiment, NC Troops - Born on March 21, 1831. Resided in Catawba County and was by occupation a blacksmith prior to enlisting in Catawba County at age 31, July 4, 1862, for the war. Reported present through May 10, 1863. Wounded slightly in the leg at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on or about July 2, 1863, but remained on duty. Reported present through October 31, 1863. Captured at Rappahannock Station, Virginia, November 7, 1863. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, November 11, 1863. Died at Point Lookout on January 13, 1864, of "chron[ic] diarrhoea." He died on 12 January 1864 at the age of 32 in Point Lookout, Maryland.209

Noah A. WAGNER was born on 21 January 1861 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 13 August 1879 at the age of 18 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Old St. Paul's Church Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, NC.

Nancy Mahala HERMAN and Abel Sylvanus ECKARD were married on 15 December 1867 in Catawba County, North Carolina. by P.C. Henkel, Min. Abel Sylvanus ECKARD, son of David ECKARD and Betsy Caroline WILLIAMS, was born on 21 May 1845. His record in the War Between the States is as follows:211 ECKERD, ABEL S., Private, Co. K, 46th Regiment, NC Troops - Resided in Catawba County and enlisted at age 18, October 1, 1863, for the war. Present or accounted for until wounded at Wilderness, Virginia, on or about May 5, 1864. Returned to duty prior to May 23, 1864, when he was wounded in the left foot near Hanover Junction, Virginia. Returned to duty in July-August, 1864. Present or accounted for through December, 1864. Captured at Hatcher's Run, Virginia, April 1, 1865. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, until released on June 12, 1865, after taking the Oath of Allegiance. He died on 5 May 1916 at the age of 70 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in St. Peter's Lutheran Church cemetery, north of Conover, Catawba County, NC.
