Margaret YOUNT was born on 4 April 1924 in Burke County, North Carolina. She died on 31 July 2010 at the age of 86 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Margaret Yount Smith, 86, of Hickory, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. She was born April 4, 1924, in Burke County to the late Ervin Yount and Mary Walton Yount. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Huit Suttlemyre Smith. Margaret was a lifelong member of Hickory Service League and various bridge and garden clubs. She was also instrumental in early advocacy for public school children with learning differences. She was a member of Corinth Reformed Church. Survivors include three sons, Skipper Smith and wife, Fan, David Smith and wife, Fran, and Bruce Smith, all of Hickory; grandchildren, Laurie Rhoney and husband, Andy, of Hickory, Graham Smith and wife, Jamie, of Charlotte, Daniel Smith and wife, Andi, of Charlotte, Megan Smith of Charlotte, Alex Smith of Charlotte and Taylor Smith of Hickory; sisters, Mary Fagan of Hickory and Virginia Robinson of Wilmington; and one great-grandchild, Mallory Rhoney. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Corinth Reformed Church in the Althouse Room, with the Rev. Bill Howell officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. Virginia YOUNT was born on 1 August 1930 in Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. She died on 27 May 2011 at the age of 80 in Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, Wilmington, NC. She was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: WILMINGTON Virginia Yount Robinson, formerly of Conover, passed from her earthly life to her heavenly home on Friday, May 27, 2011, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Wilmington. Virginia was born in Morganton on Aug. 1, 1930, the daughter of the late Ervin Caldwell Yount and Mary Walton Yount, and she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rhyne Robinson; her sisters, Alice Yount Wagoner and Margaret Yount Smith. Virginia was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and a great cook. For many years she was a member of the Newton-Conover Service League, a Red Cross volunteer and a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Conover before she and "Bob" relocated to Wilmington to be near family. She is survived by a sister, Mary Yount Fagan, of Hickory; a son, Robert Rhyne Robinson, Jr., and his wife, Valerie Auten Robinson, of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Alice Yount Robinson Calder and her husband, John Keith Calder, of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Joshua David Robinson, of Winston-Salem; Kelly Erin Calder, of Oakland, Calif., and Emily Alice Calder, of Wilmington. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home followed by a burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory.
