She died on 11 December 1925 at the age of 80 in Newton Township, Catawba County, North Carolina. She was buried in Old St. Paul's Church Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, NC. Inscription reads, in part: Member of Reformed Church - descendant of William Herman who md. Mary Motz of Hesse Cassel ca 1761 - came to America 1765 - Citizen and Freeholder of NC 1786.

Sarah Ann Sophronia HERMAN and John Summey COULTER were married on 23 February 1871 in Catawba County, North Carolina. John Summey COULTER, son of Eli Summey COULTER and Harriet Catherine FRY, was born on 30 January 1846 in Catawba County, North Carolina. His record in the War Between the States is as follows: COULTER, JOHN SUMMEY, Private, Company B, 8th Battalion, NC Junior Reserves. Born in Catawba County on January 30, 1847. Resided in Catawba County and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting at Camp Vance, near Morganton, at age 17, May 21, 1864, for the war. Reported present in June-October, 1864. His muster roll for September-October, 1864, reports "15 dollars deducted from wages for depredation commited on citizens." Captured at Fort Fisher on December 25, 1864. Confined at Fort Monroe, Virginia, December 29, 1864. Sent to Point Lookout, Maryland, December 31, 1864. Transferred to Company E, 3rd Regiment N.C. Junior Reserves, January 3, 1865, while a prisoner of war. [NCT 17:454]

COULTER, JOHN SUMMEY, Private, Company E, 3rd Regiment, NC Junior Reserves, Previously served as Private in Company B, 8th Battalion N.C. Junior Reserves. Transferred to this company on January 3, 1865, while a prisoner of war at Point Lookout, Maryland. Paroled at Point Lookout on January 17, 1865. Received at Boulware's Wharf, James River, Virginia, January 21, 1865, for exchange. Had not rejoined his company as of February 28, 1865. No further records Survived the war.[NCT 17:349] He died on 25 October 1925 at the age of 79 in Catawba County, North Carolina.1012 He was buried in Old St. Paul's Church Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, NC. Inscription reads, in part: Elder in Reformed Church Confederate Soldier - Descendant of Martin Coulter, Sr. - [who] Came from Palatinate to America- 1749 -md Catherine Rosanna Boone ca 1756 - Citizen and Freeholder of NC - 1765. He was a jewler and farmer and lived in Newton.
