3296. Paul Richard HERMAN was born on 25 November 1929. He died on 11 December 2011 at the age of 82 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY Paul Richard Herman, 82, of Hickory, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011 at Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born Nov. 25, 1929 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Myrtle Lafone and Samuel Herman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Herman was a member of The Hickory South Congregation Of Jehovah's Witnesses and had worked as a painter for Moss Marlow Construction Company. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Iona Herman of the home; two daughters, Tessie Starnes and her husband, Charles of Hickory, and Judy Swallows and her husband, David of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two step-sons, Mike Canipe of Hickory, and Steve Canipe and his wife, Ann of Shelby; sisters, Carmen Whitener of Hickory, Ruth Lawter of Hickory, and Joyce Bumgarner of Bowling Green, Ky.; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness with Brother Chris Ries officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
