Mary Ann SPENCER522 was born about 1847 in Catawba County, North Carolina.133 She appeared in the census in 1880 in Wittenberg Twp., Alexander County, North Carolina.523 In 1880 Mary Ann Spencer was single and living with her parents. Also listed is in this household is a 5 year old girl named Emma Spencer, identified only as "granddaughter". Perhaps she was Mary Ann's child who was born out of wedlock. She died on 28 July 1919 at the age of 72 in Wittenberg Twp., Alexander County, North Carolina. Mary Ann died sometime after the 1910 census, most likely before 1920.

HOLLAR524, son of Jonas Andrew HOLLAR and Elizabeth [Bolch] BOLICK, was born about 1842 in Alexander County, North Carolina. (per 1860 census) His record in the War Between the States is as follows:525 HOLLER, MARTIN A., Private, Co. F, 23rd Regiment, NC Troops (Infantry) - Born in Alexander County* and resided in Catawba County where he was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in Catawba County at age 17, June 6, 1861. Present or accounted for until wounded at Seven Pines, Virginia, May 31, 1862. Reported absent wounded until March 13, 1863, when he was discharged by reason of disability. In 1869 he was an a Justice of the Peace in Catawba County, North Carolina. He appeared in the census in 1880 in King's Creek, Caldwell Co., North Carolina.523 In 1880 Martin Hollar appears to have been married to a Rebecca _______ . They were living in King's Creek and had 5 children living at home. Martin appeared in the census in 1900 in Wittenberg Twp., Alexander County, North Carolina. In 1900 Martin Hollar and his wife Mary Ann are living in Wittenberg. Mary Ann indicates that she is the mother of 1 child who is still living. Martin and Mary Ann have been married for 7 years. He died on 23 March 1924 at the age of 82 in Caldwell County, North Carolina.

Mary Ann SPENCER and Peter H. HOLLAR were married on 10 September 1905 in Wittenberg Twp., Alexander County, North Carolina. Mary Ann Spencer Hollar, a widow, marries Peter Hollar, twice widowed himself. They are married by John Downs, a Methodist minister, in Wittenberg, Alexander Co., NC.
I believe that Mary Ann Spencer must have been Martin Hollar's 2nd wife. [Teri Tillman] They were married on 10 September 1905 in Whittenburg Twp., Alexander County, North Carolina. Peter H. HOLLAR, son of Zechariah HOLLAR and Elizabeth [wife of Zechariah] HOLLAR, was born on 1 January 1826 in North Carolina. He died in 1908 at the age of 82.523
