Adolphus Jerome SIMMONS was born on 22 January 1857 in North Carolina.¹¹⁵ He died on 28 September 1939 at the age of 82 in Catawba County, North Carolina.³⁹⁰ He was buried in St. Paul's Memorial Park, Newton, North Carolina. The 1870 census reports one of those sons (Adolphus Jerome Simmons) living in the household of Henry Adolphus Herman, brother of Paul, Michael and Caleb Herman.

Adolphus Jerome SIMMONS and Martha Jane [Ekard] ECKARD were married on 28 February 1879 in Catawba County, North Carolina. by P.K. Little, J.P. Wit: J.V. Simmons, J.A. Simmons, L.M. Holler, at Simon Ekard's home. Martha Jane [Ekard] ECKARD, daughter of Simon ECKARD and Mary "Polly" Sarah Jane [Boovey] POOVEY, was born on 22 February 1862 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 4 August 1890 at the age of 28 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She was buried in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, NC.

Adolphus Jerome SIMMONS and Martha Jane [Ekard] ECKARD had the following children:

AUSTIN, daughter of Lotberry B. AUSTIN and Harriet Jemima KAYLOR, was born on 24 November 1864. She died on 5 January 1948 at the age of 83 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She was buried in St. Paul's Memorial Park, Newton, North Carolina.
