5053	i.	James Franklin "Jimmy" GANTT was born on 25 February 1947 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 12 July 2005 at the age of 58 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Conover City Cemetery, Conover, Catawba, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: NEWTON - Jimmy “Duck” Franklin Gantt, 58, of East G Street, Newton, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Born Feb. 25, 1947, in Catawba County, he was the son of Florene Hoke Bryson and the late Dempsey Gantt. He was a former barber at Quality Haircutters and recent barber at Joe’s Barber Shop. He was a 1965 graduate of Newton-Conover High School and a member of First United Methodist Church in Newton. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jack Bryson; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hoke. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lynne Clemmer Gantt of the home; a son, Jim Gantt and wife, Adrian, of Salisbury; a daughter, Jamie G. Hunter of the home; two granddaughters, Quinn and Bray Hunter of the home; his mother, Florene Hoke Bryson of Conover; and two brothers, Larry Gantt of Conover and Michael Gantt of Morganton. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 15, 2005, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Newton, with the Rev. Dan Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to The Epilepsy Foundation; First United Methodist Church, P.O.
