4833. Dora Jean "Mousie" MELCHOR was born on 16 September 1930 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 13 June 2009 at the age of 78 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. She was buried in Conover City Cemetery, Conover, Catawba, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Beloved mother and wife, Ms. Jean "Mousie" Alwran, 78, of Conover, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Born Sept. 16, 1930, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late M.R. Melchor and Edna Brady Melchor. Ms. Alwran was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover. She retired after more than 20 years from Stewarts Jewelry in Conover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, William "Bill" Alwran, and a brother, Mack Melchor. She is survived by two sons, David Alwran and wife, Debbie, of Conover and John Alwran and wife, Betty, of Angier; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all her loving neighbors. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, with the Rev. Michael Kane officiating. Burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Monday at the church, prior to the service.
