Stephen Alexander MILLER, son of Alvin Raymond MILLER and Blanch Willie SETZER, was born on 21 March 1925 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 1 August 2004 at the age of 79 in Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, North Carolina. STEPHEN A. MILLER
CLAREMONT - Stephen Alexander Miller, 79, of Claremont, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Born March 21, 1925, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Alvin and Blanch Setzer Miller.
A member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, he was a retired driver for Carolina Freight Carriers. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in Africa and the Azores from 1943 to 1946. He served aboard the carrier USS Coral Sea from 1947 to 1950.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Luther Miller, Bill Miller, Foy Miller, Ben Miller and Lane Miller, and a sister, Margaret Buchanan.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Little Miller of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Sandra Miller of Claremont; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and David Thompson of Belmont; a sister, Gilda Snyder of Claremont; a sister-in-law, Edith Mller of Claremont; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Claremont. The Rev. Scott Bollinger will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Family Life Center of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 550, Claremont, N.C. 28610.
The Miller family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Conover.
