She died on 16 July 2001 at the age of 66 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: SONYA BRADY MASSI, of Charlotte, N.C., went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 16, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of her life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 20; 2001, at ca-vary church, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte, with The Reverend Dr. Clifton Wood and The Reverend Dr. Glenn Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Memorial Gardens on the church property. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Sonya was first a child of God. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, was a wonderful influence lives of .her family, friends, and neighbors, Throughout her life, she gave her guidance to many people. They were her lambs and she was their shepherdess. The Lord blessed Sonya as his noble maiden and He is pleased. Sonya was born September 20, 1934 in Conover, N.C. to Cliff and Louise Brady. She graduated from Central High School and Kings Business College. Sonya awaits her husband of 45 years, Julian W. Massi; a son, Mark Massi and his wife, Eva, of Weddington, N.C.; twin daughters, Lisa Massi, of Charlotte, N.C. and Cathy Massi Pope and her husband, Jim, of Louisville, KY; and son, David Massi, of Charlotte; sisters, Donna Brady Smith and her husband, Bill, of Raleigh, N.C. and Sharon Brady Branch and her husband, Sonny, of Morehead City, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Sarah, Max and Lily Pope and-Rachel and Rebekah Massi. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Church, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28226, or New Directions International Ministry, P.O. Box 2347, Burlington, N.C. 27216.
