Mayme DEAL was born on 14 January 1907 in Caldwell County, North Carolina. She died on 7 October 2010 at the age of 103 in Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care, Granite Falls, Caldwell County, NC. She was buried in Pinecrest Cemetery, Granite Falls, Caldwell County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: GRANITE FALLS - Mrs. Mayme Deal Bolick died on Oct. 7, 2010, at the age of 103, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born Jan. 14, 1907, to the late Rufus and Artie Melissa Deal. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vincent H. Bolick; and six siblings, Winnie D. Bowman, Everette Deal, Richard Deal, Louise D. Witzel, Lottie D. Bolch and Ethel D. Coffey. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Frances Sullivan and husband, Jim Sullivan. Mrs. Bolick is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great- nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Granite Falls, where she served on many committees and also on the administrative board. Her love of music was lifelong. She played the piano for the silent movies in Hickory during the 1920s. The highlight of the Bolick family Christmas party was the singing of carols around the piano until she was 98. She also played the piano and organ at her church for 40 years and for her Sunday school class, the Ruth Bible Class, until the age of 95. She attended Sunday school until two weeks before her death. An active member of Circle Four, in 2009 she received the United Methodist Women's Special Mission Recognition as being the oldest member of the United Methodist Women in the North Wilkesboro District. She was involved in the Granite Falls community, was a member of the Granite Falls Service League, the PTA, and she volunteered with the Girl Scouts. Mrs. Bolick loved her flowers and spent many hours in her yard. She was very pleased when she was awarded the Yard of the Month. She loved her family and her many friends who were constantly visiting her and surrounding her with love as she did to them. The service for Mrs. Bolick will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Granite Falls at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, with the Rev. Tom Hunter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Pinecrest Cemetery. At other times the family will be at the home of Jim and Mary Frances Sullivan. Pallbearers for Mrs. Bolick will be Ken Bolick, Frank Bolick Steve Drum, John Sigmon, Wayne Kirby and Jimmy Hemphill. Honorary pallbearers are Janelle Brooks, Eloise Harren, Christine Teague, Mary Doris Icard, Ann Hardee, Peggy Lowdermilk, Martha Moore, Dorothy Jones, Mrs. Jessolyn Muse, Dot Young and Marie Bumgarner.
