Her obituary appeared as follows: TAYLORSVILLE - Daisy Elizabeth Setzer Kale, 96, of Hickory, died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Valley Nursing Center following an illness of a month. Born Sept. 7, 1908, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Robert (Bob) Smith Setzer and Minnie Elizabeth Setzer Setzer. She was a member of the Methodist faith and was employed by Elliott & Kaiser Roft Hosiery Mill for 40 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Kale; eight brothers, Guy Setzer, Clyde Setzer, Fitch Lee Setzer, Walt Setzer, Eulas Setzer, Vernon Setzer, Harvey Setzer and Hayes Setzer, all of Catawba County; and three sisters, Evie Lofton, Vera Sigmon and Blanche Setzer, all of Catawba County. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Josephine Kale Deal and her husband, E. Davidson Deal, of Taylorsville; a grandson, Dr. Rodney Deal and wife, Carolyn, of Franklin, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Ronda Deal Howard and husband, the Rev. Mike Howard, of Boone; great-granddaughters, Jessica Deal of Franklin, Tenn., and Stephanie and Tiffany Howard of Boone; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mac (Hayes) Setzer of Claremont. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, April 30, 2005, at Drum Funeral Home Chapel in Conover by the Rev. Mike Howard. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park. The body will be placed in Drum Funeral Home 30 minutes prior to the funeral. The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2005, at Drum Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Nathan Robinson, Tim Whitworth, Richard Hayes, Howard Matthews, Claude Austin and Dane Whitworth. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
