6689. Walter William "Walt" WHITMIRE was born on 4 March 1948 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 8 August 2008 at the age of 60 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: NEWTON - Walter "Walt" William Whitmire Jr., 60, of Newton, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Born March 4, 1948, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Walter William Whitmire Sr. and Minnie Alice Setzer Whitmire. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Conover and was owner and operator of Whitmire Woodworking. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Marcus Walter Whitmire, and a brother, Allen Whitmire. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Vicky C. Whitmire; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynette Loftin and husband, Gerald, of Catawba; two grandchildren, Alexander "Alex" Bost and Addison Murphy; and a brother, Lloyd Whitmire of Claremont. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert C. Silber will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight, Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 1390, Newton, N.C. 28658.
