1891. Ralph HUFFMAN was born on 2 July 1924 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 5 March 2010 at the age of 85 in Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Ralph Elvin Huffman Sr., 85, of Hickory, passed away March 5, 2010. Ralph was born July 2, 1924, in Catawba County to the late Levi Langdon and Fannie Leona Hawn Huffman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Huffman, and sisters, Lottie Lail, Earlene Hedrick and Wilma Parker. Ralph was a lifelong member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, a veteran of World War II, and retired from years as a machinist. Ralph was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Selma Louise Bolick Huffman, whom he wed 63 years ago on June 5, 1946. Also surviving are sons, Ronald Huffman of Hickory and Ralph Huffman Jr. of Statesville; grandchildren, Christopher, Patricia, Kimberly and Michael; 10 great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; extended family and caregiver, Duane Brayboy; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 7, 2010, at 4 p.m. at St. Stephens Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, with the Revs. David Guelzow and Brandon Martin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Huffman, Kenneth Huffman, Danny Norton, Blain Hall, Bobby Hedrick, Larry Baker, Randy Hall and Duane Brayboy. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church following the memorial service.
