3611. Norris Dean SIGMON was born on 1 March 1936 in Conover, Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 18 August 2006 at the age of 70 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows:2805 Norris Dean Sigmon, age 70, of 1st Ave. South, Conover passed away Friday, August 18, 2006 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Born March 1, 1936 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Harland Lester Sigmon and the late Daisy Kaylor Sigmon. He was a graduate of Newton-Conover High School and Lenoir-Rhyne College. Mr. Sigmon was a US Army Veteran serving in the MP and Ranger Divisions, and later became a Mason. He worked in the furniture business for over thirty years. After forty years in law enforcement, he retired from NCDMV receiving the Order of Long Leaf Pine from Governor Mike Easley. He also served as an ABC officer, in the Sheriff Department Reserves, the Conover Reserves for 30 years, and the Claremont Reserves. Mr. Sigmon was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He was a life-long member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover. In addition to his parents, three brothers, Wilfred, Harold, and Joe Sigmon, preceded him death. He is survived by: His wife: Sandra Wilson Sigmon of the home; Son: David Sigmon and wife Lori of Maiden; Daughter: Lisa Holloway and husband Allan of Glen Allen, VA; Step Son: Allen Gibson of Conover; Step Daughter: Michelle Gibson of Newton; Grandson: David Allan Sigmon Holloway; Step Granddaughters: Jessica Gibson, Elizabeth Gibson; Brother: Eddie Sigmon of Cary, NC; Sister: Kathleen Parks and husband Bill of Hickory. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover with Rev. Donald Oldenburg and Rev. Fred Thompson officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery in Conover. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Burke Mortuary in Newton. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Burke Mortuary in Newton is serving the Sigmon family. He was buried in Conover City Cemetery, Conover, Catawba, North Carolina.
