Hal Winfield KAYLOR was born on 30 May 1922 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 29 December 2011 at the age of 89 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Conover City Cemetery, Conover, Catawba, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER Hal Winfield Kaylor, 89, of Conover, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011. Born May 30, 1922, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Oren Winfield and Vertie Lena Sigmon Kaylor. He was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, where he was a deacon and elder, member of the Lutheran Laymen's League, and former Sunday School superintendent. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the 106th Engineer Combat Battalion, 31st Division, A-Company during WWII. He had worked for over 33 years for Southern Furniture Company and then co-founded and co-owned Pem-Kay Furniture Company. He was a member and past commander of Newton American Legion Post 16, former president and Cattleman of the Year and member of the Catawba Valley Cattlemen's Association. Hal was a member of the Conover City Council for 28 years, including several years as Mayor Pro-tem, and was involved in the Western Piedmont Council of Government. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law; Martha K. Walker, Margie K. Abernethy and her husband, Doc, Maxine K. Isenhower and her husband, Bob, and Harry Bolick and his son-in-law, Ted Spencer. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Anna Lou Spencer Kaylor, of the home; his children, Michael Kaylor and his wife, Shelby, of Asheboro; Anna Carol Spencer, of Conover, Philip Kaylor and his wife, Debra, of Claremont, Eric Kaylor and his wife, Shelly, of Palmdale, Calif., Pamela Meyer and her husband, Rick, of Corrales, N.M., 15 grandchildren, Jason Kaylor, Allison Anders, Laura Spencer Hall, Erin Spencer Sigmon, Kaylor Spencer, Justin Kaylor, Jordan Kaylor, Jared Kaylor, Tyler Kaylor, Austin Kaylor, Isaac Meyer, Eli Meyer, Fran Greene, Stacia Buech-lein, Jamie Sumpter and his great-grandchildren, Addie, Thomas, Kaylyn, Dallas, Hayden, Henry and Emma; a sister, Annie K. Bolick, of Conover; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe W. Kaylor and his wife, Doris, of Con-over; a brother-in-law, Paul M. Walker, of Newton, and a number of nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held at 3:30 p.m Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Con-over. Rev. A. Mark Schudde will officiate. Burial will be held in Conover City Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 16. Maxine KAYLOR was born on 17 February 1926 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 14 October 2007 at the age of 81 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. She was buried in Conover City Cemetery, Conover, Catawba, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Mrs. Maxine Kaylor Isenhower, 81, of Second Street, NW, Conover, was called to eternal life Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley in Newton. Born Feb. 17, 1926, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Oren Winfield and Vertie Lena Sigmon Kaylor. She worked with Pembrook Chair Company in Claremont and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church – LCMS in Conover, where she had been active with the Dorcas Society, a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Stephen Ministry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Isenhower, and sisters, Margie K. Abernethy and Martha Nell K. Walker. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and husband, the Rev. Dennis Quackenboss, of Newland; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. Isenhower Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Spartanburg, S.C.; and grandchildren, Joel Quackenboss, Leah Deal, Anna Quackenboss, Robert Isenhower III and Andrew Isenhower; great-grandchildren, Seth Quackenboss, Aaron Quackenboss, Rachel Quackenboss, Hannah Deal, Luke Deal and John Isaac Deal; a sister, Mrs. Annie K. Bolick of Conover; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hal and Anna Lou Kaylor and Joe and Doris Kaylor, all of Conover; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Charles Moser of Conover, Paul Walker of Newton, Frederick N. Isenhower of Linville, Mildred Isenhower of Hickory and Marshall Travis of Blowing Rock; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, with the Revs. D. Paul Nelson and Dennis C. Quackenboss officiating. Burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Elliott Abernethy Jr., Jeffrey Kaylor, Philip Kaylor, Von Moser, David Pingel and Roy Sigmon.
