Lewis Sidney HEFNER, son of Daniel [Heffner] HEFNER and Barbara BAKER, was born on 11 October 1840 in Lincoln (Catawba County), North Carolina.^{97,235,385,441,442,443,444} He was baptized on 19 December 1840 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church cemetery, north of Conover, Catawba County, NC.⁴⁴⁵ His record in the War Between the States is as follows:⁴⁴⁶ HEFNER, LEWIS S., Private, Co. A, 12th Regiment, NC Troops - Resided in Catawba County and was by occupation a carpenter prior to enlisting in Catawba County at age 20, April 27, 1861. Present or accounted for through December, 1864. He lived with his son, Quintes Elmore Hefner in Cline's Township, Catawba County, North Carolina in 1920.⁴⁴⁷ Lewis died on 15 February 1920 at the age of 79 in Catawba County, North Carolina.²³⁵ He was buried in St. Peter's Lutheran Church cemetery, north of Conover, Catawba County, NC.
