Served in the Civil War from 8 Aug 1862 until 1 Oct 1864, Captured ar Fredrickburg, Virginia . His foot was amputated at the CSA General Hospital at Charlottesville Virginia. David lost three brothers in the war, Miles, Alexander and Wallis
