3903. Mae HEFNER was born on 25 July 1922 in Alexander County, North Carolina. She died on 18 August 2011 at the age of 89 in Valley Nursing Center, Taylorsville, North Carolina. She was buried in Friendship Lutheran Church Cemetery, Taylorsville, Alexander County, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows: TAYLORSVILLE Mae Hefner Reese, 89, of Lloyd Reese Lane, Taylorsville, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Valley Nursing Center. She was born July 25, 1922, in Alexander County to the late Johnny Pleas Hefner and Amanda Bowman Hefner. Mae was a lifetime member of Friendship Lutheran Church of Taylorsville. She worked many years in the hosiery industry before retiring. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Lee Reese; two sons, Jimmy Leon Reese and Alan Wayne Reese; two brothers, Clyde William Hefner and Garfield Hefner, and one sister, Leona Hefner. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Reese Nance and her husband, Jerry, of Taylorsville; Sharon Reese Melton and her husband, Buddy, of Spartanburg, S.C.; two sons, Dwight Lee Reese and his wife, Jeannette, of Hickory; Neil Thomas Reese and his wife, Rayetta, of Bethlehem; four sisters, Willie Hef-ner Isenhour and her best friend, Bob; Mary Ruth Hefner, Rachael Hefner Miller and her husband, Ralph, and Sarah Hefner Bowman; three brothers, J.E. (Jake) Hefner and his wife, Ellen; Larry Hefner, Ronald Hefner and his wife, Brenda; 11 grandchildren, Brent Nance and his wife, Laura; Kelly Nance, Todd Reese and his wife, Allison; Steven Reese and his wife, Mandy; Jennifer Reese, Adam Reese, Kendall Reese, Lee Strauss and his wife, Holly; Alisha Landrum, Jennifer Wilson and her husband, David; Jonathan Melton, Julie Griffin and her husband, Heath; 12 great-grand-children, Jay Nance, Brenna Nance, Samuel Reese, Molly Reese, Jessica Lowman, Gavin Woody, Nicholas Strauss, Haylee Strauss, Colby Landrum, Chloe Lan-drum, Alex Wilson, Abbey Wilson, Ally Wilson, and Mariah Melton. She is also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, at Friendship Lutheran Church. The Revs. Todd Rauscher and Phil Thorsen will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Friendship Lutheran Church on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Dale Reese, Richard Reese, Steve Isenhour, Roger Miller, Jeffery Hefner, and Johnny Hefner. Alan Wayne REESE was born on 11 December 1951 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 13 October 2009 at the age of 57 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. He was buried in Friendship Lutheran Church Cemetery, Taylorsville, Alexander County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: TAYLORSVILLE - Alan Wayne Reese, 57, of Taylorsville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. He was born in Catawba County on Dec. 11, 1951, the son of the late Lloyd Reese and Mae Hefner Reese of Taylorsville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Friendship Lutheran Church. He was a loving dad, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Reese, and a brother, Jimmy Leon Reese. Loved ones left to cherish his memory include his mother, Mae Hefner Reese of Taylorsville; his sons, Steven Reese and wife, Mandy McGuire Reese, of Hickory and Adam Reese of Taylorsville; his daughter, Jennifer Reese of West Jefferson; his sisters, Judy Reese Nance and husband, Jerry Nance, of Taylorsville and Sharon Reese Melton and husband, Buddy Melton, of Spartanburg, S.C.; and his brothers, Dwight Reese and wife, Jeannette Bumgarner Reese, of Hickory and Neil Reese and wife, Rayetta Wolford Reese, of Bethlehem. He was adored by his four grandchildren, Sam and Molly Reese of Hickory and Jessica Lowman and Gavin Woodie of West Jefferson; and also loved by his many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at Friendship Lutheran Church in Taylorsville. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 p.m. The Revs. Todd Rausch and Phil Thorsen will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 10,000 and 5466 will perform military rites.
