1702. Helen HUNSUCKER was born on 3 April 1915 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 10 March 2004 at the age of 88 in Rocky Mount, Nash County, North Carolina. She was buried in Conover City Cemetery, Conover, Catawba, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Helen Hunsucker Saeman, 88, of Conover, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, in Rocky Mount. Born April 3, 1915, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Lycurgus and Ava Bertie Simmons Hunsucker. A child of the Depression, she graduated from Concordia College in 1934. In her later life, she was an exceptional homemaker and she enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover. No matter where she lived, she always thought of Conover as her home. Now she can be at rest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Hunsucker, and a brother-in-law, Yates Havnaer. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Anne Whisnant and husband, Dr. Joseph D. Whisnant, of Rocky Mount; three granddaughters, Jennifer Terjesen and husband, Andrew, of Sherman, Texas, Rebecca Whisnant of Boone and Rachel Whisnant of Durham; a sister, Elma Havnaer of Conover; a sister-in-law, Ruby Hunsucker of Conover; several nieces; a nephew; and former husband of 26 years, Walter C. Saeman of Chapel Hill. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover. The Revs. Donald Oldenburg and John Greig will officiate and burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday at Concordia Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church, 216 Fifth Ave., SE, Conover, N.C. 28613.
