5037. Dorcas Gilbert "Dottie" BOLICK was born on 17 August 1942 in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 21 April 2008 at the age of 65 in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Dorcas "Dottie" Bolick Coley, 65, of Hickory, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at her residence. Born Aug. 17, 1942, in Hickory, she was a daughter of the late Norman Marshall and Dorcas Lucille Gilbert Bolick. She attended Queens College in Charlotte. In 1969, Bill and Dottie Coley founded Lee Industries, where she was vice president of merchandising for more than 30 years. Dottie was a devoted mother and grandmother and had a love for doing things for others. She was gracious, generous and kind and was always willing to help others. Known as "Grandot," one of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and family. Dottie loved the beach, golfing and fishing. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hickory and an avid volunteer for Hickory Community Theater and member of the board of directors of Flynn Home. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Ginny Collett and husband, John, and Susanne McMillan and husband, Tom, all of Charlotte; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Coley and wife, Clair, of Eatonton, Ga., and Norman Coley and wife, Bondi, of Conover; grandchildren, Garrison and Anna Clair Coley, Bo and Decker Coley, J.C., Coley and Addy Collett, Mary Coley, and Luci and Tommy McMillan; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Marsha Russell and husband, Tom, of Hendersonville and Mary Pat Yarborough and husband, Wayne, of Newton. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2008, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover. The Revs. Richard Schwandt and Paul Birner will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Unifour Nursing and all her supportive friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Safe Harbour Rescue Mission, 615 Second Ave., SW, Hickory, N.C. 28602 or Christ Lutheran Church, 324 Second Ave., SE, Hickory, N.C. 28602.
