6332. William "Carroll" HERMAN was born on 14 October 1941 in Taylorsville, Alexander County, North Carolina. He died on 23 October 2007 at the age of 66 in University of North Carolina Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: TAYLORSVILLE - William "Carroll" Herman, 66, of Old Wilkesboro Road, Taylorsville, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at University of North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill following an extended illness. He was born in Alexander County on Oct. 14, 1941, a son of Clara Chapman Herman of Taylorsville and the late Clyde William Herman. He was a retired salesman for Conklin Sales and a former owner of H&W Paving. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam era and was a member of DAV Chapter 84 in Taylorsville, where he was currently serving as Commander. He was a member of Stony Point United Methodist Church. Survivors include his mother, Clara Chapman Herman of Taylorsville; three sisters, Faye Shew and Sue Robinette and husband, Elisha, all of Taylorsville and Cathy Sigmon and husband, Bob, of Bethlehem; nieces, Vanessa Harris and Emily Sigmon; and nephews, Chad and Rex Robinette and Nick Carrigan. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at Stony Point United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Deval Mason and Charles Briscoe officiating. Burial will follow in Stony Point Cemetery with military rites conducted by members of DAV Chapter 84. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at Adams Funeral Home and at other times at his mother's home, 2354 U.S. 16 North, Taylorsville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to DAV Chapter 84, 582 Carrigan Road Taylorsville, N.C. 28681, or Amyloid Program at Boston University Medical Center, 715 Albany St., Boston, Mass. 02118.
