He was a member of the Shriners in Charlotte, the Masonic Lodge in Conover and a charter member of the Elk's Lodge in Newton. Mr. Lail was the owner and operator of Twin City Recapping. He was a member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church in Newton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlene L. Lail; a son, Ricky Lail; sisters, Peggy Waldron and Mary Adams; and a brother, Kenneth Bumgarner. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Brenda Coker Lail of the home; daughters, Julie and her husband, Glenn Rollings, of Catawba, Lisa and her husband, Eric Ellsworth, of Hickory, Lori and her husband, Phillip Marette, of Tyrone, Ga., and Leslie and her husband, Gerald Frye, of Lawndale; sons, Jeffrey Scott Lail of Catawba, Danny Charles Lail and his wife, Marsha, of Catawba and Michael Douglas Lail and his wife, Sue, of Hickory; sisters, Betty Ross of Maiden, Frances Setzer of Catawba and Millie Rupple of Shallotte; and five grandchildren. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2007, at Drum Funeral Home in Conover, with the Rev. Dr. Jane Mitcham officiating. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park. Marine Corps League Catawba Valley Detachment #1163 will provide full military honors. The family will be at the funeral home from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
