4654. Mildred SETZER952 was born on 28 December 1933 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 17 October 2012 at the age of 78 in Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: NEWTON Mildred Setzer Cooke, 77, of Newton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at her residence. Born Dec. 28, 1934, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Fitchue and Lillie Beatrice Cook Setzer. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, and Mamaw. She was a lifetime member at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, where she was very involved with the youth. She was a previous Youth Director and Sunday school teacher, coached basketball for the Recreation Department for many years, and was a Girl Scout leader. Mildred enjoyed cooking, loved her family and was an avid writer. She had worked for Bi-Lo and Southern Glove. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Johnny Setzer and Cleveland Setzer; and sisters, Edith Workman and Gladys Watts. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Billie Forest Cooke, of the home; sons, Chris Cooke and wife, Mary Ann, of Conover and Bryan Cooke and wife, Dawn, of Hickory; daughters, Terry Aulbert and husband, Van, of High Point and Melinda Hodge and husband, Scott, of Newton; grandchildren, Matt Hodge and Adam Hodge and fiancee, Kailee Burke, Blake and Lindsey Cooke, Cassie and Kevin Cooke, Amber Ingle, Amanda and Shelby Osborne, and Sarah Byrd and husband, Jon; great-grandchildren, Jaden and Madison Ingle, and due in four weeks - Bennett Bryan Byrd; sisters, Vertie Beal and husband, Pete, of Maiden and Lorene Roseman, of Hickory; and lifelong friend, Julia Stallings. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ. The Revs. Lonny McSherley and Peggy Stout will officiate and burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the church.
