3561. Ransom Leroy KANUPP was born on 30 May 1910.²¹³⁹ He died on 12 May 1968 at the age of 57 in Catawba County, North Carolina and was buried in New Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery.²¹³⁹

Ransom Leroy KANUPP and Ada TOWNSEND were married estimated 1942. Ada TOWNSEND, daughter of Noah TOWNSEND and Sarah BARGER, was born on 17 August 1924 in Watauga County, North Carolina.^1900,1901 She died on 23 May 2009 at the age of 84 in Bedford County, Virginia. Her obituary appeared as follows: BEDFORD, Va. - Ada Townsend Punch, 84, of Bedford, formerly of Hickory, N.C., passed away May 23, 2009, after a period of declining health. Ada was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Watauga County, N.C., to the late Noah and Sarah Barger Townsend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ransom Leroy Kanupp; second husband, Blevin Punch; and brothers, Andrew Townsend and Earl Townsend. She was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA and retired from Bojangles' on Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard in Hickory, N.C. Surviving are a daughter, Libby Ann Kurz and husband, Bill, of Haines, Alaska; sisters, Lola Townsend and Margaret Hefner, both of Hickory, N.C.; a number of nieces and nephews; and her beloved Chihuahua, Penny. Services will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at 4 p.m. at St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA in Hickory, N.C., with the Revs. Richard Hites and Ralph Eckard officiating. Interment will follow in St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. at the church. Hickory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
