5562. Richard Earl RINK²²⁷ was born on 13 March 1927 in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina.²⁹⁴⁹ He died in Catawba Memorial Hospital, Hickory, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY Richard Earl Rink, 83, of Hickory, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Rink was born March 13, 1927 in Catawba County to the late Oren and Ila Burch Rink. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Miller Rink; a sister, Bobby Fulbright; a brother, Adrian Rink and a son-in-law, Robert Laws. He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church, served in the U.S. Army, enjoyed fishing and loved the mountains where he spent a majority of his time. He was a tile setter by trade. Survivors include a daughter; Judy Sigmon Laws of Hickory; a son, Michael (Mike) Rink and wife Pamela of Hickory; two sisters: Betty Mims and husband Larry of Hickory and Edna Kay Stafford and husband Jason of Gastonia; three grandsons: Michael Rink, Jr. and Jonathan Shay Rink both of Hickory and Chris Robert Laws of Wilkesboro; a great granddaughter, Caitlin Laws of Wilkesboro and a great grandson, Ryan Laws also of Wilkesboro. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bass-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park with Military honors presented by American Legion Post #48 of Hickory.
