NEWTON - Thomas Alvie Drum, 94, of 808 Hatchett Road, Lincolnton, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at his residence.

Born May 21, 1909, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Charles Gentry Drum and the late Minnie Dora Drum.

He was a member of Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church in Maiden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Hager Drum; a son, Billy C. Drum; and four brothers, Vance Drum, Peeler Drum, Woodrow Drum and Gaither Drum.

Survivors include six daughters, Taltha Parker, Pansy Smith, Nancy Josey, Joyce Hannon and Sharon Good of Maiden, and Judy Herron of Lincolnton; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church in Maiden with the Rev. Frank Herman officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church prior to the service.

Joyce Ann DRUM was born on 19 January 1947 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 15 December 2008 at the age of 61 in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was buried in New Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows: MAIDEN - Joyce Ann Drum Hannon, 61, of Anderson Mountain Road in Maiden, entered heaven Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center Palliative Care in Winston-Salem. Born Jan. 19, 1947, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Alvie Drum and Ethel Lois Hager Drum. Joyce was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Newton. She and her husband, Billy, were blessed with 44 years of a loving marriage. In addition to her parents, an infant son, Darrin James Hannon, and a brother, Billy Connor Drum, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Bill Hannon of the home; one son, Jeff Hannon of the home; two daughters, Beth and husband, Shawn Bowman, of Maiden and Jennifer and husband, Brad Burke, of Catawba; five sisters, Taltha Mae Parker, Pansey Smith and Nancy Josey, all of Maiden, Sharon Good of Newton and Judy Herron of Lincolnton; and three grandchildren, Jacob Bowman, Brooke Bowman and Christian Bowman. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Newton, with Pastor David Byers officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mount Anderson Baptist Church Cemetery in Maiden. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Burke Mortuary chapel in Maiden. Memorials may be given to New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1560 Nathaniel St., Newton, N.C. 28658. Burke Mortuary in Maiden is serving the Hannon family.
