Katherine Elizabeth HORNE1578, daughter of James Albert HORNE and Annie Earle CORDELL, was born on 17 May 1925. She died on 25 February 2007 at the age of 81 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Katherine Horne Herman, 81 of Rock Barn Road, Conover, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born May 17, 1925, in Catawba County to the late James Albert Horne and Annie Earle Cordell Horne. She was retired from Southern Glove Co. and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Conover. She also was a member of the Wednesday Seniors Bowling Team at Colonial Lanes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Joe Herman; two brothers, the the Rev. Everett E. Horne and Clifton Eugene Horne. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Brock and husband, Bill, of Seneca, S.C., Nancy Schiener and husband, Jim, of Cary; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth E. Herman and wife, Debbie, of Camden, S.C., Joe R. Herman and wife, Sandra, and Donald W. Herman and wife, Debbie, of Conover, Ronald D. Herman and wife, Lisa, of Hudson; a brother and sister-in-law, James A. Horne Jr. and wife, Paula, of Hickory; and grandchildren, Kaitlan H. Cline and husband, Justin, Eric Herman, Hoyle Hoover, Holly Hoover, LaShae Herman, Nicholas Herman, Sarah Schiener, Emily Herman, Olivia Herman, Jessica Garrison and Preston Herman. A Service of Remembrance will be held today, Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at 3 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. The Revs. Scott Johnson and Anton Lagoutine will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Herman, Eric Herman, Hoyle Hoover, Justin Cline, John Jones and Tommy Jones. The family will receive friends today, Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 2126 St. John's Church Road, Conover, N.C. 28613. The Herman family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home & Cremations in Conover.
