Present or accounted for until he was killed on the north bank of the Potomac River on September 19, 1862, "by accidental discharge of his gun." He served with Co. K, 46 Regiment of the NC Confererate Tooops. - Listed as: Ballinger, William P., Corporal Born in Catawba Co. where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in Catawba Co. at age 25, March 13, 1862.
