Carroll Mark LEE was born on 27 July 1960 in Fort Riley, Kansas. He died on 11 October 2009 at the age of 49 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Catawba Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Maiden, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: NEWTON - Carroll Mark Lee, 49, of Newton, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born July 27, 1960, in Fort Riley, Kan., he was the son of Patricia "Pat" Lee of Newton and the late Carroll Dean Lee. Mark was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was a charter member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church, where he was a devoted member and served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. He loved bass fishing and watching football. He was a 1979 graduate of Bandys High School and, along with his father, Carroll Lee, he was owner and operated Carroll Lee Asphalt Paving and was previously employed by CommScope in Catawba. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William R. and Carrie H. Lee; maternal grandparents, the Rev. Hampton Scronce and Hazel Scronce; father-in-law, Aaron Killian; and sister-in-law, Cindy Livingston. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Tamara Bowman Lee of the home; sons, Clay Lee and David Lee, both of the home; his mother, Patricia Scronce Lee of Newton; sisters, Kim Leatherman and Tracy Horne, both of Newton; mother-in-law, Helen Killian of Taylorsville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eddie and Robin Little of Conover, Doug and Tanga Killian of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Doug Livingston of Taylorsville; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Catawba Valley Baptist Church in Maiden. The Revs. Ernie Richards, Gerald Ward, Wesley Taylor and Matt Munday will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Keith Lee, Mike Lee, Eric Lee, Marty Little, Ricky Lee, Cody Hoover, Steve Lee and Butch Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe McIntosh, Bryan Sherrill, Colby Yount, Ricky Elder, Garrett Childers, Landis Elder, Eddie Little, Doug Killian, Derek Frye and Roger Lee. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton and at other times at the residence.
