3571. Felix Franklin AUSTIN was born on 21 March 1922 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 13 December 2007 at the age of 85 in Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: NEWTON - Felix Franklin Austin, 85, of Newton, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born March 21, 1922, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Arthur Leroy and Florence Mae Mullinax Austin. He was a member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church. He retired from Southern Furniture as a machine room supervisor and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of the 13th Air Force, 390th Bombardment Squadron. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lorene Ritchie; two sisters, Evelyn M. Austin and Mildred I. McDaniels; and three brothers, Fred A. Austin and wife, Eunice, Paul O. Austin and Billy M. Austin. Survivors include a son, Charles Andrew Austin of Newton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Woodrow D. Austin and wife, Frances, of Newton and Harvey L. Austin and wife, Jewel, of Brunswick, Ohio; and two sisters-in-law, Dot Austin and Betty Austin. A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Beth Eden Lutheran Church. The Revs. Dr. Jane Mitcham and Chad Walker will be officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight, Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel.
