Joyce HERMAN was born on 25 April 1933 in Burke County, North Carolina. She died uly 21, 2008 in Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. She was buried in Eastview Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: Joyce H. Dale, age 75, of Newton passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 21, 2008 at her residence. Born April 25, 1933 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late James C. and Sally Arndt Herman. She was a faithful member of Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church in Newton where she served on various committees. Her homemade desserts were shared with love and enjoyed by everyone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jay Truett “Babe” Dale. She is survived by: 2 Sisters: Marolyn Herman Sipe and husband, Ned of Conover, Mary Herman Williams and husband, James of Newton 2 Brothers: Cromer A. Herman and wife Nancy of Lynchburg, VA, Joel L. Herman and wife Donna of Newton, Numerous Nieces and Nephews, friends and neighbors who will greatly miss “Joycie”. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church in Newton. Rev. Jim Church will officiate and burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Newton. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church, prior to the service.
