Loy Alphonso SIMMONS and Dorothy Aileene YODER were married estimated 1936. Dorothy Aileene YODER, daughter of James Franklin YODER and Martha Alice Catherine SIGMON, was born on 13 January 1914 in Cleveland County, North Carolina. She died on 28 April 2008 at the age of 94 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. She was buried in Eastview Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Dorothy Aileene Yoder Simmons, 94, of Conover, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born Jan. 13, 1914, in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Martha Alice Sigmon Yoder. She was a member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Alphonso Simmons; four sisters, Nannie Yoder, Nell Whitworth, Edith Simmons and Cathryn Yoder; six brothers, Maurice Yoder, Carl Yoder, Frank Yoder, Ralph Yoder, Wayne Yoder and Keith Yoder; and an infant grandson, Gary Thomas Martin. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Thomas Martin of Sherrills Ford, Ann and Errol Rufty of Hiddenite and Ellen and Wayne Reinhardt of Conover; seven grandchildren, Anita Benfield and husband, Greg, Karen Smith and husband, Wayne, Michael Rufty Sr., Keith Rufty, Carla Cone and husband, Johnson, Mary Phillips and SSG Charles Ball; and 10 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew and Jenna Benfield, Christopher Smith, Michael Rufty Jr., Whitney, Wesley and Tyler Moses and Dillon and Zachery Ball. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Beth Eden Lutheran Church. The Revs. Dr. Jane Mitcham and Chad Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, at the church.
