4444	iii.	Paul Dellinger SIMMONS was born on 21 January 1921 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 9 June 2004 at the age of 83 in Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. He was buried in Conover City Cemetery, Conover, Catawba, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Paul Dellinger Simmons, 83, of Section House Road in Hickory, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born Jan. 21, 1921, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Ralph B. and Effie Dellinger Simmons. He had worked at Broyhill and Trendline and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Simmons, Edward Simmons and Lewis Simmons, and two sisters Neva House and Nell Simmons dePeterse. Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Jeanie Deese of Conover; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Randy and Pam Simmons of Hickory, and Terry Wade Simmons of Conover; a sister, Patricia Simmons of Conover; a brother, Charles Simmons of Conover; nine grandchildren, Justina Robbins, Robert Deese, Shae Simmons, Amber Simmons, Trevor Simmons, Ricky Deese Jr., Jennifer Deese, Gary Dishman and Chelsea Simmons; and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2004, at the Drum Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shae Simmons, Rickey Deese Jr., Robert Deese, Gary Dishman, Eddie dePeterse and Doug Simmons. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home.
