Horace Alexander BUFF, son of John BUFF and Bettie ABERNATHY, was born on 9 December 1915.²⁹⁶⁰ He died on 5 July 2001 at the age of 85 in Burke County, North Carolina.

John "Johnny" Luther BUFF was born on 27 October 1934 in Burke County, North Carolina.²⁹⁶¹ He died on 11 April 2006 at the age of 71 in Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. He was buried in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - John "Johnny" Luther Buff, 71, of Hickory, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 27, 1934, in Burke County, he was a son of the late Horace A. and Marie F. Buff. He retired in 1996 from First Union National Bank, now Wachovia, after 38 years of service. He was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Viewmont Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Agnes Willis Buff of the home; a daughter, Debra B. Canipe and husband, Jerry; and three sons, Johnny L. Buff Jr. of the home, Todd A. Buff and wife, Teresa, and Dwayne Buff and wife, Brenda. Also surviving are his brother, Jerry W. Buff of Valdese; and two grandchildren, Trey Buff and Tarra A. Buff, both of Maiden. The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted by Dr. Layne Smith and the Rev. Nancy Campbell at Viewmont Baptist Church on Friday, April 14, 2006, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Friday, in the North Lobby of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Viewmont Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1246 Second St., NE, Hickory, N.C. 28601.
