Ollie Mae HEFNER and Frank Robert ALLEN were married estimated 1917. Frank Robert ALLEN, son of John ALLEN and Eliza Emaline WORKMAN, was born on 2 January 1900 in Catawba County, North Carolina.^2093,2094 In 1910 he was a farm laborer.²⁰⁹⁴ He died in 1962 at the age of 62 in Virginia.

3460	i.	Fred Ransom ALLEN was born on 1 March 1919 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 12 January 2012 at the age of 92 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. He was buried in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY Fred Ransom Allen, 92, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Fred was born March 1, 1919 in Catawba County, to the late Frank and Ollie Hefner Allen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, worked for many years as produce manager for Country Boy's Market and in later years worked for Springs Road Sporting Goods. He was an army veteran of WW II. During his tour of duty, he received the American Defense Service Medal, EAMET Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Purple Heart Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Surviving are his wife, Naomi Sharpe Allen of the home; his son, Darrell Allen and his wife, Carol of Hickory; his daughter, Ann Carter and her husband, Danny of Conover; granddaughters, Alicia Lafferty and her husband, Justin of Sawmills, Hallie Carter of Conover, Brianna Carter of Conover, and Lauren Crown and her husband, Todd of Hickory; grandsons, Alex Carter of Conover and Matt Hale and his wife, Katie of Hickory; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Our Saviour Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert J. Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in Catawba Memorial Park with graveside military honors conducted by American Legion Post #48. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the church.
