Vera DOOLEY was born on 24 October 1913 in White County, Georgia.⁸⁹⁴ She died on 7 November 2007 at the age of 94 in Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Conover, NC. She was buried in Eastview Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. Name appears as VERA DOOLEY STEWART HOUSTON on headstone (only date) Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Vera Dooley Stewart Houston of Hickory, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at Conover Nursing and Rehab Center. Born Oct. 24, 1913, in White County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Luther Lee Dooley and Fannie Skelton Dooley. She was a homemaker and member of Calvary's Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Catawba. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Foister Stewart; second husband, Foy Houston; and a brother, Edward Dooley. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jeneil Stewart and wife, Mary, and Ned Houston and wife, Mary Sue, all of Hickory, and Ray Houston and wife, Louise, of Concord; stepsons, Rodney Houston and wife, Mary Jane, of Conover and Glenn Houston and wife, Marcia, of Indiana; stepdaughters, Hilda Isenhour and husband, Fred, of Newton, Wanda Marlow and husband, Bill, Linda Perry and husband, Lonnie, and Kathy Roberts and husband, Stanley, all of Hickory, Donna Duncan and husband, Johnny, of Newton and Marsha Carroll and husband, James, of Conover; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover, with the Rev. Larry Cooley officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
