Born Nov. 30, 1922, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Clyde Herman Bost and Ina Criddle Bost. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Newton; a member of Masonic Lodge 248 in Newton for 50 years, where he was a life member and past master; and he retired as maintenance supervisor for Conover Chair Co. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Whitworth Bost; brothers, Charles C.C. Bost, Phillip E. Bost and Dr. John Dewey Bost; and sisters, Jeanette Coulter, Margaret Lutz and Ruth Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Frances T. Bost; a son, Ralph H. “Butch” Bost Jr. of Lexington, S.C.; a daughter, Judy Bost Kirby of Union Grove; seven grandchildren; three stepchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Carroll Propst. The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Randy Cowan and Fred Thompson at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Derrick Bost, Joel Bost, Brandon Bost, Bob Jarrett, Barry Quickel and Gary Allen. The family will be at the church from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today.
