Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Elizabeth Saunders Bost, 84, of Newton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at her residence. Born Jan. 5, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Mable Rose and George Kenneth Saunders. She was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, had a passion for art and was a member of the Piedmont Painters and the Book Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Dewey Bost, and stepmother, Helen Marie Nelson Saunders. She is survived by her son, John K. Bost of Newton; a daughter, Susan B. O'Hearn of Richmond, Texas; a sister, Sandy S. Brooks of Hickory; and three grandchildren, Brint, Kathryn and Rebecca O'Hearn, all of Richmond, Texas. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home, with Pastor Fred Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from noon to 1 p.m., at the funeral home.
