Daniel MOSER3 was born on 8 May 1790 in Orange County, North Carolina.1,4,5 He died on 11 Jul 1839 in Lincoln (Catawba) County, North Carolina.1,4 His monument at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery reads: "The Rev'd Daniel Moser, Pastor of the Ev. Luth Church, Born May 8th A D 1790 and entered the Ministry A D 1812; Died 11 July 1839, Aged 49y 2m 3d. In Token of their Esteem for his Firmness, Orthodoxy, and Faithfulness to the end, his Friends erect this monument."

MOSER, DANIEL, born May 8, 1790, in Orange (now Alamance) Co. Parents: Michael and Sophia (Reinhardt) Moser. No formal college or seminary education. Married Mary Barbara Moretz, Lincoln (now Catawba) Co., daughter of the Rev. Christian Moretz. Children: The Rev. Timothy Moser, (whose two sons were the Revs. Jason C. and John F. Moser), the Rev. Jonathan, Rebecca, Marcus. Licensed 1812 and ordained 1819/20 by N. C. Synod. Churches served: Zion, Catawba Co., 1812-39; Bethel-Philadelphia, Gaston Co., 1814-21; Emmanuel, Lincolnton-St. Luke, Lincoln Co.-St. Paul, Newton (Startown), 1815-20; St. John, Catawba Co.; Mt. Moriah, Rowan Co., supply 1824, 1832 with others, 1826-29; Daniels, Lincoln Co., 1825-34; St. Peter, Catawba Co., 1825-39; Cobles, Guilford Co.-Melanchthon, Randolph Co.-Mt. Pleasant, Alamance Co., 1831-; organized St. Stephen, Catawba Co., 1837-39. "In this (pastor's) office, he maintained honor, dignity, and firmness, . . . As a preacher, ... he was firm in the faith, and worthy of his vocation; . . . and, in a word, his whole life was irreproachable, as far as it is possible for that of man to be." Seven days before his death, he was stricken by paralysis on the road to his home from one of his churches. Died July 11, 1839, in his 50th year; buried at St. John Church, Lincoln (now Catawba) Co.

Rev. Daniel MOSER and Mary Anna Barbara MORETZ were married on 23 Oct 1812.1 Mary Anna Barbara MORETZ (daughter of Rev. Christian MORETZ , Sr. and Maria "Polly" or "Molly" FOX) was born on 20 Nov 1785 in Randolph County, North Carolina.1,4 She died on 23 Mar 1868 in Catawba County, North Carolina1,4 and was buried in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina.
