 CHART FOR AGE GROUPS IN PRE-1850 FEDERAL CENSUS MALES AND FEMALES

 

 This is for all of you (and me) who aren’t mathematical and have to constantly figure the ages when doing censuses. Hope it helps.…

 

1790 CENSUS

Only has 3 age groups Males 16+; Males -16, and females

 

Males: 16 & over - are born before 1774

Males: under 16 are born -1775- 1790

Females:  all ages – are born before 1790

 

 

 

1800  CENSUS

 Five (5) Age Groups Males & Females

 

Under 10:  born between 1791-1799

10 through 15 – born between 1785-1790

16 through 25 – born between 1775-1784

26 through 44 – born between  1756-1774

45 and over – born BEFORE 1774

 

 

1810  CENSUS

 

The Age Groups are the same as 1800

 

Under 10: born between 1801-1810

10 through 15 – 1795-1800

16 through 25 – 1785-1794

26 through 44 – 1766-1784

45 and over – born BEFORE 1765

 

 

1820  CENSUS

 

There are 6 age groups for Males and 5 groups for the Females

Males

Under 10 – 1811-1820

10 but under 16 – 1805-1810

16 but under 18 – 1803-1804

16 but under 26 – 1795-1804

26 but under 45 – 1776-1794

45 and over – BEFORE 1775

 

Females

Under 10 – 1811-1829

10 but under 16 – 1805-1810

16 but under 26 – 1795-1804

26 but under 45 – 1776-1794

45 and over – BEFORE 1775

 

 

1830 CENSUS

 

This census has 13 age groups for Males and Females

 

Under 5 – 1826-1830

5 but under 10 – 1821-1825

10 but under 15 – 1816-1824

15 but under 20 – 1811-1815

20 but under 30 –1801-1810

30 but under 40 –1791-1800

40 but under 50 –1781-1790

50 but under 60 – 1771-1780

60 but under 70 - 1761-1770

70 but under 80 – 1751-1760

80 but under 90 -1741-1750

90 but under 100 –1731-1740
