AARON HARLON, Sr. of Orange co., to AARON HARLON JR. of ORANGE Co., "for great love and affection" give him land that was part of survey that SAMUEL TEMPLES purchased from JOHN POSEY. Aaron Harlon bought it from Posey.

(this doesn't give a relationship, but with the names the same and Sr. & Jr. you might suppose they are father and son. But, could be Uncle and Nephew, too.)

to SAMUEL HOLIDAY, it was part of a grant to JAMES LINDLEY from Lord Granville, date 8 Jan. 1761.

WILLIAM GREAVE, Executor of the Estate of GEORGE DIXSON, SR. dec'd, to JOSHUA DIXSON, son of the aforesaid GEORGE DIXSON SR., dec. Whereas the said GEORGE DIXSON by virtue of an indenture of Bargain and ale duly executed under the hands and seals of HARMAN GRIGGS and MARY, his wife for an in consideration therein mentioned, became lawfully seized of and in a certain tract and plantation of 311 acres, the said indenture dated 14 Sept. 1767 and recorded in the Rolls office in the county of ORANGE, Bk. A. NO. 1, pg. 690.....goes on to name another tract of 11 acres also
recorded... and whereas the said GEORGE DIXSON was seized of said land deceased first making his last will and testament in writing in and among which these words..
"3rd I give and bequeath to my son Joshua Dixson one hundred and twenty acres of land (being part of the above described tract as also that 11 acres
of land now leased to CALEB DIXSON... I do hereby impower my Executors to convey the said tracts to the said JOSHUA DIXON, his heirs and assigns forever.
6thly, I do constitute and appoint my son GEORGE DIXON and trusted friend WILLIAM GREAVE to execute this my last will and testament which said will as
proved at court. And whereas the said GEORGE DIXON, declined to act said court impowered the above said WILLIAM GREAVES solely to act pursuant
thereto and the tract of land was granted to HARMAN GREGG by virtue of an indenture of Bargain and Sale, duly executed under the hands and seals of
JOHN MEA SR. and MARY, his wife, etc...land was granted by the Earl of Granville to the said JOHN MEA by indenture bearing date 13 Feb. 1756..the sd WILLIAM
GREAVES pursuant to the sd will, and in consideration of the sum of 5 shillings doth grant unto the said JOSHUA DIXSON, part of the above
mentioned lot ... adjoining thereto... joins JESSE DIXSON on the west side of Lick Creek, 120 acres, the lot of land by the mouth of a branch on the N. side of
Lick Creek, in the amount of 11 acres.

Jacob Lineberger the elder, Planter and Catherine his wife, sell to David Fox for 6 pds, proclamation money of the state (proclamation money was what ever coin, & cash that the government of the state of N.C. recognized as currency, at the time, it could and did at times include Spanish, French, & German coins, plus gold and silver) the acreage of this land was 33 3/4 acres, joining Nicholas Fox's land on E. side of Rockey River...the same being part of 200 acres of land which by patent under the Great Seal of the State bearing the date 3 March, 1779 was granted and confirmed unto the said Jacob Lineberger and the same recorded in Chatham in Bk. B. folio 188.

MY NOTE: Sometimes when you see a piece of land selling for what seems to be a small amount of money, it is the owners selling for what they can get because they are moving away, and want to get rid of the land. That is also what you are dealing with when you read the ones where they are selling the land, the tenements and goods) It looks like Zachry Harman and his wife are getting rid of all their land in the county, with these deeds. Another way you can tell whether the people are moving is if, your find a power of attorney. They are leaving and want to be sure that someone has the power to sell and deal with any legal matters that might remain at the home place. (sometimes, they are already gone and if they are then, it will say , where they are living, in the POA that they make.) A wonderful way to track your ancestors!!!
