Teresa Bell I am looking for
any information on William and Maranda COFFEY. They were married in
Burke
Co., NC, and I believe that's where William was born, about 1839. He
and
his wife moved to Clay County, NC, and it's said they only had one son,
Robert W. Coffey, born in 1861. Robert married Mary M. Bell, daughter
of
James M. Bell and Elizabeth Russell. Robert died in 1940, and Mary died
in 1906 of tuberculosis. They are buried at the Pine Log Methodist
Cemetery,
outside of Brasstown, Clay County, NC. Maranda is buried there also.
Her
tombstone reads "1835-1885 (wife of William)." The family story
is that William may have served aboard ship in the Civil War and was
killed
when his ship sank off the coast of the Carolinas--looking for
confirmation
and additions to this tale.

I'm
looking for information about my grandparents, Charles Thomas DOYLE and
Beatrice Viola DOYLE. They had lived in Methuen, MA. They were married
on July 7, 1917. Grandfather was born in Glenville, NY on June 22,
1895.
He was born with the last name DAVIS and was adopted by the Doyle
family.
My grandparents moved to Hayesville, NC. I don't know when Grandfather
passed away; Grandmother passed away on Jan. 25, 1984.
Lori This request
is being submitted in the hope that information is available regarding
my maternal great-grandparents and their ancestors. I believe that they
were married in Clay County, North Carolina (Haysville) during the
summer
or early spring of 1918. My maternal great grandmother was Irene
Coleman
SMITH. She taught school in a one room school house for about one year,
prior to marrying my maternal great grandfather, Garnett Lewis Smith.
Irene
and Garnett ( he always went by Lew or Lewie) had a daughter in May of
1919. Her name was Dorothy Alice Smith. Irene, Garnett and baby Dorothy
moved away from Haysville to Prescott, Oregon when Dorothy was around
one
year old. As a child, I was told that there were relatives in
Haysville,
and my grandmother (Dorothy) occasionally spoke of an "Aunt Rufina".
I have no other information regarding these people, as this chapter of
my ancestor's lives was not open to discussion. Sadly, my grandmother
passed
away two years ago, and there are no living relatives to provide any
helpful
information. Oh, I was also told that another family name (married to
Coleman?)
was SCROGGS. I have no information about Garnett Lewis Smith's family,
other than he was adopted by the Smith family after an illness
apparently
killed his biological parents and most of his siblings. Very tragic.
Anyway,
I suppose that this is a tall order, but any information from you nice
folks would be greatly appreciated, and more than I have at this time.
Any "mystery relatives" out there who would enjoy chatting with
a possible distant ( very distant) cousin in Portland, Oregon?

Debbie Roth I
am
trying to find the parents of my GGG Grandfather Edward SMITH. He was
born
in Clay Co. NC around 1818-1820. I judged this birth timeframe from the
fact that he married at "full age" in 1839 after they had traveled
to Platte Co. MO and arrived there in 1837. I do not have any record of
siblings... but there could have been. He was talked about as being of
high intellect. So he must have come from a family with money to school
him well. Does anyone have access to a census record for maybe 1820 to
place him in a household? I sure would appreciate your assistance.
