From Jan Kisselburg
My story was told to me by our grandpa Joseph Claude Kisselburg. He
said his
father told him that William Howard KISSELBURG, his grandfatrher
disappeared
sometime after 1870.? On the 1870 census they lived in ?Hayesville,
Clay Co, NC.
William's wife was Nancy Carter. On the 1880 census William is gone and
Nancy is
living with her brother John Carter and his family in Haynesville, Clay
Co, NC.
. The story goes that @ 1875 Nancy was living with another man who beat
her and
her 3 children (James, Savanah & Arlenia).? Nancy got sick and
Williams brother
Henry J KISSELBURG came and got the 2 girls.? Nancy died and James at @
the age
of 12 to 15 walked to his Uncle Henrys house in?Cherokee Co, NC.. Then
looking
for work he left, walked through the mountains ending up at Osborn
Williams
farm. There he worked on the Williams farm in Blue Ridge, Ga.and later
married
Magnalene Williams daughter of Osborn.
