This indenture made on the fifteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen between James Ray of the state of North Carolina and county of Columbus and Seth Due [Dew] and Anney Beasby [could be Beasley] and John Ray and J[essi]e Ray and Joniah Ray of the one part and Elizabeth Ray of the other part. Witnessith that we the above mentioned persons for and inconsideration of the sum of ten dollars to us in hand paid the reciept whereof we the above mentioned persons do acknowledge ourselves to be fully satisfied, contented, and paid have given and granted sold and by then presents do give, grant, bagain, sell, and convey unto the afore said Elizabeth Ray of said county a certain piece or parcel of land containing one hundred acres, it being part of a hundred acres survey patented by Joniah Ray fifty acres of that and fifty acres patened by Jamima Ray lying and being in the county aforesaid and beginning at Joniah Rays beginning corner a white oak on the south side of Welches Creek and running with his east line north and then as the original plat directs their being fifty acres on both sides of that line, to have and to hold the aforesaid hundred acres of land unto the said Elizabeth Ray and her heirs with every appurtences thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and use the above mentioned persons do bind our selves our heirs, excutors, administrators, and assigns jointly and severally to be content and forever defend the said land and premises unto her the said Elizabeth Ray that her ourselves or any of us will make any other title or titles counsel shall devise or advise and for the more effectual and better surveing the aforesaid land. In witnesss whereof we have hereunto set our hand and seal this 25th day of September 1817.
