Know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars for
every hundred acres hereby granted paid unto our treasury by Joseph B
Wilkins hath given and granted and by these presents do give and grant
unto the said Joseph B Wilkins a tract of land containing one hundred
acres lying and being in the county of Columbus. Beginning at a pine
Malcom Downies Corner runs with Robeson's line formerly Swindalls North
Twenty West Thirty Three chains to a stake thence East twenty chains to
a pine Campbells and Clarks Corner thence with said Clarks line South
Thirty Two East twenty four chains thence South Seven West Twenty
chains to a Cypress Clarks Corner in the Edge of Doe head Bay, thence
South fourteen east twenty chains, thence south Eighty West twenty
chains to abyes(?) corner thence north forty six west five chains to
Downies Corner thence with his line north fifty nine East twenty two
chains thence north thirty six west twenty two chains thence to the
beginning.
Entered the 4th day of January 1845
As by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods,
waters, mines, minerals, hereditaments and appentenances to the said
land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said Joseph B Wilkins
his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sums of
money yearly as other wise as our general assembly from time to time
may direct provided always that the said grantee shall cause this grant
to be registered in the registers office of our said County of Columbus
within twelve months from the date hereof other wise the same shall be
void.
In testimony whereof we have caused these our letters to be made patent
and our great seal to be hereunto affixed witness William A Graham our
Governor at Raleigh the 28th day of November in the 71st year of our
Independence and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
forty six.
