McLEMORE
Do you know if there is a list of "Oaths of Allegiance", or something like
it, that was recorded after the Civil War in Cumberland Co. I have found
similar records in GA.
Supposedly, my Reden McLEMORE of Cumberland Co. (1850, 60, & 70 Census)
fought in the Civil War and I can't find him listed anywhere! I'm wondering
if a list as I mentioned above exists for Cumberland Co, and maybe I could
find him on it. I'm wondering if he used a formal name and Reden was a nick
name as I have seen it spelled at least 3 ways. Thanks!

I have a receipt or payment voucher from my great-great-grandfather to a
SAMUEL (?), Middle initial could be T, J, or I, HAWLEY or HANLEY or
even HARLEY who was apparently a tanner in Fayetteville in 1840. The
document is dated April 15, 1840 and is for shoemaking supplies,
including leather, thread, bristles and some other things I have yet to
decipher. Does anyone know of a tanner or other supplier of shoemaking materials
in Fayetteville at this time with the name of HAWLEY, HANLEY, or HARLEY
or something similar? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I'll be glad to send a copy of this receipt or payment voucher. (I'm
not absolutely sure which.) Thanks so much. Please contact Margaret Overton Posted March 10, 2000

They had most of their children in AL before coming to Sabine Parish, LA. Hosea died before 1850 and Lovely died Nov 24, 1866 and is buried here in Natchitoches Parish, LA.
