McNEILL
I am searching for Neill McNEILL of Cumberland County. I was almost
afraid to post this message after finding six Neill McNEILL's in the

Hector left North Carolina and moved to Kentucky. Hector is my 3rd
great-grandfather. Any information on this particular Neill McNEILL is

McMILLAN / HAMILTON / McCALLUM
Seeking information on the Rev. Alexander McMILLAN. He was a Church of
Scotland minister who immigrated to North Carolina in 1765. I understand,
from another source, that he was married to Cristia HAMILTON and they had
the following children: Alexander, John, Margaret, Nancy, Mary and Sara.
When was Rev. Alexander McMillan born and when and where did he die? I would
also appreciate birth years for the children. I am especially interested in
his daughter Mary McMillan. Did this Mary McMillan marry Duncan McCALLUM in
Cumberland or Robeson Co., NC? Thanks for any help offered.

BRINKLEY / RIDDLE
I am trying to find information about my ggg-grandpa, Timothy BRINKLEY, b. in NC approx. 1788.
He was to have married Dolly RIDDLE in Cumberland County, NC on Nov. 23, 1809. I can find no
information at all about him or Dolly, other than that they came to S. IL in the early 1800's,
bringing with them at least 2 children born in NC, and 1 neice, Angliline (?) and 2 nephews,
Wesley and Luke and his sister-in-law, only know as "Aunt Pop". He may have been related to the
Samuel BRINKLEY who is somewhat famous for his long white beard. My grandpa, Thomas Ardolphus
BRINKLEY had an old photograph of Samuel & we were told he was some of Grandpa's 'kin-folk' from
the Carolinas.
Can anyone please help me? I would like to siblings, parents, occupation, origin, or anything!!!
Thank you so very much!

MATTHEWS
In 1999, on the Cumberland County Query page, someone
posted:
"------. John McNeill father was Neil McNeill (Big
Neill) who was married to Polly Matthew's (Margaret?)
daughter of Revolutionary Co. Thomas MATTHEWS of
Cranes Creek. -----"
My ancestor was Willis Dickenson MATTHEWS,
a Methodist preacher, son of James Matthews and Nancy
Dickenson of Moore/Cumberland County. We believe
James to be the brother of Thomas Matthews, (Jr.), and
son of Thomas MAT(T)HEWS of Cross Creek/Crane's Creek
and Cumberland County. We are trying to establish that
as fact. Does anyone's research have any possible
clues to share? Thanks!

PORTER
Searching for information on my PORTER line. I specifically am trying to
find out about Allen (Alan) PORTER. I know he was married in Cumberland
county 1836/1837. I know he still lived there in 1850. He had a son, William
D. PORTER who moved to Horry County, SC in the early 1850's. And I have been
successful in the line going on down from there. But the brick wall is Allen
PORTER. He just "appears" in Cumberland county in that marriage record of
1836(7) but I do not know from where he came, or if he was actually born in
Cumberland county, nor have I found a record of death for him. I figure his
birthdate abt. 1796.....anyone else searching this line?
